What is the Regency Era?

Books 7, 8, and 9 of “The Necklace” series take place in Regency England when James and Susan (after they cross the rainbow bridge) decide to travel back in time to the year 1815 when the necklace was first created. In “The Wishing Jar,” Julia also decides to travel back to this era in time to meet a “perfect gentleman.”

So, what is the Regency Era in history?

The Regency Era refers to a period in British history, specifically between 1811 and 1820, when King George III was deemed mentally unfit to rule and his eldest son, George, Prince of Wales, acted as Prince Regent, effectively governing the country in his father’s place until the King’s death in 1820

This era in time is associated with a distinct style in fashion, architecture, and social customs. The Regency Era is often depicted in literature and popular culture as a time of elegance, lavish balls, and strict social etiquette. Jane Austen’s books take place in the Regency.

I will post more specifics about this era in time in later posts and also tell my readers/followers why I’m so attracted to this tiny slice of history in England.
